Scholarship Campaign
Each spring, George Junior Republic sends personalized letters to friends
asking them to invest in the lives and futures of disadvantaged youth.
The gifts generated from this campaign are placed into George Junior Republic’s
Scholarship Fund, and awarded to students and alumni who wish to further
their education at colleges, trade, or technical schools.
Prior to the Fund’s establishment in 1988, students
released from George Junior Republic, were faced with little or no opportunity.
Awarding scholarships for the continuation of education, offered an alternative.
Since the Scholarship Fund’s inception, more than
One Million Dollars has been awarded. Each year, the Scholarship Committee,
after interviewing candidates, and using a reliable formula, which weighs
the cost of tuition, financial need, and academic performance, grants
awards to each youth. The funds are directly deposited into a recipient’s
school account. Any student who chooses not to attend school, in the year
his award was granted, forfeits his scholarship, and must reapply for
future consideration. Funds, which are not disbursed, remain in the Scholarship
Fund and are awarded the following year.
The number of graduates who wish to continue their education,
and who seek scholarships, increases annually. Unfortunately, the annual
increases in tuition, books, and housing prevents some students from meeting
their financial responsibilities. Therefore, fulfilling the challenge
of raising sufficient funds to support these ambitious young men is critical.

Holiday Campaign
Annually, George Junior Republic sends holiday greetings to friends and
prospects, inviting them to help create joyful memories for the children
entrusted to our care. The funds generated from this appeal are used to
purchase gifts for the hundreds of students who are ineligible for home
visits, or who have no family to spend the holidays with. For children
as young as eight, These gifts are more than a toy; they are a gift of
hope.
