DESCRIPTION OF CARE George Junior Republic in Indiana provides 24-hour community based group home residential treatment services for emotionally troubled male children and adolescents, ages12-21. The home provides for a capacity of nine-ten youth who are unable to reside with their natural families due to various circumstances. The home is staffed by professional counselor parents (a married couple who resides in the home), professional relief counselor parents, night staff, and a master level treatment team coordinator who oversees the functioning of the home.
ADMISSION POLICY George Junior Republic in Indiana is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian program for boys without regard to race, color, or creed. The group homes in Bartholomew and Grant Counties in Indiana are designed for males, ages 12-21. The Bartholomew County home has a licensed capacity of 10 youth and the Grant County home has a licensed capacity of nine youth. Youth placed in these homes may have a number of issues or problem areas such as family, peers, school, social, or community problems. Youth may have a level of emotional disturbance and perhaps some delinquency. Youth who have a history of sexually maladaptive behaviors must have successfully completed a treatment program for these behaviors and be at a low risk to reoffend before he would be eligible for placement. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION The referring agency should complete a Request for Placement application and provide any requested information, which should include any record of psychiatric/psychological treatment, previous hospitalization or placement, school records (to include immunizations), and court, probation, or Department of Child Services records. Upon receiving the above-mentioned materials, a pre-placement interview with the youth will be scheduled by the director or treatment team coordinator. This interview may also include parents/guardians, referring worker, previous therapists, CASA or counselor parents. Upon conclusion of the application process, the group home director will make a decision regarding the youth’s suitability for placement and will inform the referring agent of George Junior Republic’s decision regarding admission. CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION If the youth is accepted into placement, GJR must receive the following documents prior to admission:
