This will vary depending upon the county or state in which the youth
resides.

my child be transported to George Junior Republic?
George Junior Republic’s staff will transport most youth; however,
some counties prefer to coordinate the youth’s transportation
through the court. What can my child bring to George
Junior Republic?
Initially youth are only permitted to bring clothing items. Youth
typically wear clothes similar to what they should wear in their
community.
Excessively
expensive clothing should not be brought into placement. The appropriateness
of all other personal items can be discussed with the youth upon admission.

When and how can I contact
my child?
Within 24 hours of arrival, a youth is permitted to contact his family
to verify his safety. After which time the youth will place two phone
calls per month
to his family. Parents/Guardians are permitted to contact the youth’s
staff at anytime. A youth is permitted to send and receive mail to anyone
at anytime
as long as there is not a court order restricting such on exchange.
When can
I visit my child?
After two weeks in placement a youth can receive visits from family members
only. Visitation occurs every Saturday and Sunday from the hours of 10
a.m. to 5 p.m.
Only four visitors are permitted at one time. It is important to complete
the Family Visitation Form listing approved visitors, so that George
Junior Republic’s
staff can verify their relationship to the child. If a person has not
been approved, he/she will not be permitted to visit. Please
contact the youth’s
direct care staff to schedule a visit. Can I take my child off-campus?
Off-campus visits can occur when a youth has been in the program a minimum
of 30-days, and when the youth’s progress permits. When can my child
come home?
A youth must be in placement a minimum of 90-days before he is able
to earn one of six annual home passes. Special home passes may
be granted by
the
referring county for extraordinary circumstances. How long will my child
remain at George Junior Republic?
The length of a youth’s commitment depends upon a variety factors,
but is primarily determind by the type of program the youth was admitted
into, and a youth’s
progress through the behavioral/educational motivational system.
